Hi everyone!
I know everyone has been wrecked by TXT (especially blond Soobin) at The Fact Music Awards. Winning a Bonsang (Artist of the Year) and giving an outstanding performance, they make MOA very proud. ๐ฅฐ
This week is also very eventful for MOA.
TXT concert in Jakarta, Indonesia! Enjoy the show Moanas
MOA Orientation Week
The second event is organized by various fanbases to introduce what they do and how MOA can make use of different resources for streaming, voting, and getting to know TXT better. I have created a collection of relevant posts here.
Coincidentally, today I am introducing one of the fanbase involved in MOA Orientation Week, a group just as outstanding as TXT. Letโs welcome @canadaxtxt! Our MOA admins in Canada have done many things to promote TXT, including winning Fanbase of the Month by Universal Music! The interview is really insightful - Iโve definitely taken some inspirations from it.
So without further ado, letโs get to know our friends in Canada.
Note: all answers have been lightly edited for clarity and further resources.
Introduction
How many admins are there? Any nicknames?
There are four admins in TXT CANADA and we donโt have any nicknames to go by - our members are Chali, Jana, Katrina and Mary.
Where are you based? Do you work synchronously?
We are all based in different parts of Canada (Ontario and British Columbia) and work synchronously.
When and how did you come across TXT? What made you fall in love with them?
JANA: There were rumours of a new boy group debuting from Big Hit in 2018 and naturally, I was curious. In the following January, Big Hit unveiled a cryptic website and Yeonjun was first introduced. I fell in love with them after watching their debut with โCROWNโ.
KATRINA: Same as Jana. Iโd been keeping up with TXT since they were rumoured to debut. Right from the bat I loved their music and videos. I was still in university studying animation at the time of their debut, so I absolutely loved the music videos for โCROWNโ and โBlue Orangeadeโ. Once The Dream Chapter: MAGIC came out I decided they were my ult group. There were so many iconic performances like Studio Choom โNew Rulesโ, โ20cmโ live on We K-Pop and their cover of SHINeeโs โReplayโ during that time that made me fall in love with them and their artistry.
MARY: I came across TXT during the minisode1: Blue Hour era. The album was upbeat and super fun to sing and dance to. I fell in love with them while watching the music video for their title track โBlue Hourโ. The members were also very genuine, humble and kind to each other and their fans.
What makes TXT different from other artists?
JANA: TXT is different from other artists to me personally because they have a very unique take on music. They are always switching their styles, which makes TXT super versatile. They are also very genuine, funny, and relatable people. Not only is that shown through their music, but also in other content like variety shows and livestreams and social media posts. Me and the boys have a lot of common interests!
MARY: In my opinion TXT is different because they are constantly testing different sounds and concepts while keeping their story all the same. They don't stick with just one genre. TXT songs also have meaning, for instance the song โWe Lost The Summerโ depicts the lives of teenagers whose lives have changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. They are also very kind and humble artists.
KATRINA: The world building in their The Star Seekers universe is so intricate and unique and each comeback Iโm excited to see whatโs added to the lore! And as an animator I love watching their music videos and showing them off to my friends as well. Plus I absolutely adore watching TXTโs performances. Theyโre absolutely captivating on stage and you can really tell how much they love performing.
Behind The Scenes
How did you meet? What is the story behind this account?
JANA: The fanbase originally started during The Dream Chapter: Eternity, however the account was suspended and we restarted during minisode1: Blue Hour. I am already friends with the founder of TXT CANADA, so I was able to join and support the fanbase during our restart.
KATRINA: I joined shortly after minisode1: Blue Hour era! During โBlue Hourโ I messaged and replied to the fanbase a lot with questions and suggestions so when they opened up admin applications afterwards I decided I might as well join!
MARY: I joined this group during The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT OR ESCAPE era. The members were really sweet and welcoming. I was really interested in this group and I wanted to support this fanbase.
For new MOAs, can you explain what a fanbase is?
A fanbase is a community of fans for a certain artist, idol, actor, etc. This can be on any platform like its own website, social media, in person (and in our case, on Twitter). Fanbases support, update and unite fans for their certain artist, idol, actor etc. about news, information and events. Fanbases vary based on aspects such as region, country, type of support and so on. TXT CANADA is a country fanbase, dedicated to supporting TXTโs contents and activities in Canada.
Is this your first time doing something like this? What is the time commitment level like?
JANA: Personally, this is not my first time as I was in another fanbase prior to TXT CANADA. The time commitment level for me is usually a few hours during the weekdays in my spare time, and then a few hours on the weekend for radio.
MARY: This is my first time being a part of a fanbase. I am really proud to be a part of this supportive community. The time commitment for me would also be a few hours on the weekdays for our daily tweets and helping out with radio on Saturdays.
What is unique about your fanbase?
We are the only Canada-wide fanbase that focuses on Canadian-specific activities for TXT. This came about because we want to lead and motivate Canadian MOAs to support TXT in Canada.
What is the process behind getting radio play for TXT? What kind of challenges did you run into? How are the results?
It took almost a whole year to get one of our national radio stationโs attention when we were requesting TXTโs music. Radio airplay is an important aspect of charting, so we made it one of our priorities in supporting TXT in Canada. We started off simply participating in requesting segments for radio stations that air across Canada and North America by ourselves, however we were not getting any sort of reaction or notice. We wrote an inquiry to our radio station about playing TXT and within the following weeks after, they played โMagicโ (the first TXT song to air on Canadian radio)! Now with over a year of TXT on Canadian radio, we have lots of support from other MOAs requesting and weโre very grateful to the ones who join us every Saturday.
Michael: I am very proud of your hard work. Thank you so much for that, I want more MOA around the world to know that we can make TXT even bigger!
How are the boys doing in Canada?
The boys are doing pretty well in Canada! Charting-wise theyโve made it as high as half way through the Canadian Billboard Album charts! ๐ (But of course, we can do better ๐) Just recently, there has been an influx of playlists at stores and restaurants that are spinning โMagicโ. TXT enjoys listening to a lot of Canadian artists such as Avril Lavigne, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd so we would love to see more interactions!
What are some of your takeaways?
JANA: Be persistent. Even if things can seem a bit overbearing, always strive to do as best as you can and give your 100%! Another important takeaway is that a team is not just one person. Every single person needs to pull their effort or things will fall apart no matter how nice and organized it looks on the outside.
MARY: I learnt that no matter what challenges you face you have to keep persevering and never give up. If you are able to overcome your biggest obstacles you are more likely to achieve your goals.
What are some challenges behind running an account like yours? How do you manage personal and admin life?
Some challenges behind running an account like TXT CANADA is remembering to balance your priorities. Since our work is voluntary, we need to make sure we take care of other things in our lives like our jobs, relationships and more. We have four admins so we can help each other out!
Can you share any stories? Who do you enjoy working with?
When our fanbase was focusing on requesting โMagicโ for radio, it was shortly announced TXT was going to be interviewed for Most Requested Live (a North American radio station segment we support). It felt like a happy reward for us who diligently requested TXT and it was really exciting to hear TXT talking on the radio. We enjoy working with all the other streaming, country and worldwide fanbases such as requesting for radio with TXT US PR, making graphics for TXT WORLDWIDE and more.
Were you able to meet any MOA in person?
We have met MOAs in person as we organized events such as online gaming nights and cup sleeves in the past! We look forward to preparing more things like that in the future.
What are your goals in the next year and beyond? Do you have any projects cooking?
We want to push TXT even higher on the Canadian charts, have more of a prominent presence in Canada with regular rotation on the radio and establish a solid community of Canadian MOAs that can support TXT here. As for projects, we would love to have an ad for TXT in Canada and host more events!
Michael: I am really excited to see that!
Resources
What are some things you'd like to see more often in the community?
A focus on radio and sales within your own countries/regions, as well as promoting TXT to local media outlets. If we narrow down some of our efforts, it will help build relationships between TXT fanbases and local media outlets - leading to establishing TXT and MOAs presence in your country/region!
Michael: This is really really important. We definitely need to work persistently in getting exposure for TXT.
What are your key insights/ideas to understanding tubatu?
Since TXT is a fairly new group and a part of the 4th generation, it also means there are a lot of new K-Pop fans. Since some admins have been K-Pop fans for years, our fanbase helps explain certain aspects of supporting TXT in Canada.
What are your favorite TXT songs, content, performances?
JANA: Itโs so hard to choose my favourite TXT song, however โBlue Orangeadeโ always stands out. Other honourable mentions are โ20cmโ, โDear Sputnikโ and โSweatโ. Just like songs, itโs hard to pinpoint my favourite content and performances as I enjoy many of their variety shows, interviews and stages. The quote I live by as a MOA is โLetโs be together, tomorrowโ.
MARY: TXT has many great songs in their discography but my favourite songs of all time would have to be โMaze in the Mirrorโ, โBlue Hourโ and โMOA Diaryโ. These songs have brought me immense joy and happiness. Itโs hard to choose a favourite stage as I enjoy all of their performances. They are a very hardworking and talented group. My favourite TXT quotes are โEven in the evening sunset and in the night sky my heart is filled with youโ from โNap of a Starโ and Beomgyu once said "After you endure hard times with a little patience, you'll smile and shine someday eventuallyโ.
KATRINA: Itโs so hard to pick but my favorites would be โPoppin Starโ, โBlue Hourโ and โCat & Dogโ. These songs just fill me with joy, TXTโs music truly makes me happy. Additionally, as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, a lot of TXTโs lyrics have resonated with me. โCROWNโ in particular brings me a lot of comfort with its message of loving yourself and your differences because thatโs what makes you special.
Who are some great MOAs for fans to know, if they want more resources to understand TXT?
All the country, streaming, data and content fanbases and accounts such as @TXTCHART_KR, @TXT_sarangdan2, @TXTbighitWW and our fellow @TXTUSPR!
Do you have any friends and moots to share with us?
I would say me and the other admins are pretty awesome!
Please leave a message for your friends and moots and regular visitors!
JANA: For all MOAs who interact and engage with our fanbase, youโre the real MVPs! Huge thank you to all the regional, country, world-wide and streaming fanbases - we appreciate your hard work and efforts.
MARY: Thank you for supporting us on our activities such as radio. We could not have done it without you. We greatly appreciate and look forward to your continued support.๐
KATRINA: Thank you to all the MOAs who help us request for radio each week! We see you and appreciate you.
Bonus Questions
You won Fan Account of the Month. How did that happen? What did you feel when the news came out?
Universal Music Canada reached out to us to be featured in their May article for โFan Account of the Monthโ! We felt extremely honored that they wanted to highlight not only us as a fanbase, but bring a light to TXT and their presence in Canada. We hope this opens up more opportunities for us and TXT here!
Michael: I highly recommend this interview!
What would you tell the members if you ever meet them?
JANA: If I could meet the members, I would thank them for all their hard work. Being able to support such talented boys is an honor and their efforts do not go unnoticed. I wish only for their happiness and health during their tour and for their future projects. Lastly, I would want them to remember that there is always a Canadian MOA who has their back no matter what and I canโt wait for the day we can finally meet in Canada.
MARY: I would tell them how proud I am of their hard work and all that they have accomplished in their three years. Also I would tell them that they are extremely talented and that I hope they continue to do what they love.
KATRINA: Iโd tell them how much they inspire me. Iโm an artist and listening to their music or watching their videos always puts me in a good mood and ready to create!
If TXT comes to Canada, where should they go? What should they do?
JANA: I would recommend they visit the iconic CN tower, visit Dundas Square, Nathan Phillips Square and Harborfront, all in Toronto. They can try some food like Beavertails, poutine and more. If they could perform in any Canadian city, I would say Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal!
MARY: If TXT comes to Canada I would recommend them to visit Canadaโs Wonderland. For food and beverages they should try the most popular fast food restaurant in Canada, Tim Hortons. I would love them to perform at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
KATRINA: I would love it if they come to Vancouver for a concert! There are plenty of theatres they could perform at but I have no doubt they could fill Rogers Arena here as well. Some fun places to visit would be the Stanley Park Seawall, Vancouver Art Gallery and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Whistler and Vancouver Island are also not too far and thereโs a lot of fun outdoor attractions they could film there!
Michael: What if the members read this one day and then plan out their Canada trip with some of your suggestions in mind!? That would be really cool. Iโm going to bookmark these things for myself too.
Please curate a trip for TXT in Canada!
JANA: I would love it if TXT came here in the winter to ski/snowboard (as I know they look forward to doing that!) whether it is in Whistler or in Blue Mountain. We also have a lot of cottage areas, so they could go camping in Muskoka or stay in lodges by the mountains in Banff. It would be amazing if they could visit Niagara Falls, too. Lastly, I would suggest they visit the Toronto Islands or Stanley Park!
KATRINA: The Capilano Suspension Bridge would be really fun! I think the combination of our chaotic boys and how high up it is would be really funny...
Did you seeing TXT this summer?
JANA: I was given the opportunity to see TXT in New York and I am extremely grateful to be a part of the crowd to cheer them on. I also greeted them at Good Morning America. I hope one day they can come to Toronto!
KATRINA: I saw them at the D1 LA show and am still suffering from major post concert depression. I really hope to see them in Vancouver or elsewhere in Canada one day!
Michael: They will! Iโm sure they will be in Canada one day.
So there you have it, our lovely interview with our Canada fanbase.
Please continue stream, vote, and support TXT in every possible way. Our next interview will be back sooner than you think!
As for MOA Orientation Week, we have interviewed several of the participants already. Read their stories below.
Letโs end with the latest To Do, which is super fun, engaging, and trending top in Korea.
